Dr. Pat Utomi is a prominent professor of political economy and management expert. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria and has twice been a candidate for the office of President of Nigeria. He has served in senior positions in government, including as an adviser to the president of Nigeria, the private sector, and as Chief Operating Officer of Volkswagen Nigeria. Professor Utomi became the Director of the Centre for Applied Economics at the Lagos Business School of Pan African University in 1994. He has been a scholar-in-residence at American University, Washington D.C., as well as a research associate at the Harvard Business School. Professor Utomi is active on the international speaking circuit, especially on the subjects of growth economics, comparative development, leadership, the curse of oil, and China’s economic surge and growing influence in Africa. He earned his PhD, MPA, and MA from Indiana University, United States, and a BA in Mass Communication and Political Science from the University of Nigeria.
